Annual Business in Małopolska Meeting 2010: ”The Małopolska Economy on the Threshold of a New Decade”

A successive meeting of investors - the Annual Business in Małopolska Meeting 2010, will take place on the 27th of October in the headquarters of Kraków Technology Park.

The Annual Business in Małopolska Meeting was inaugurated a year ago as part of the Invest in Małopolska project. During last year’s inaugural conference, the Business in Małopolska Centre was opened – a joint initiative by three institutions: the Małopolska Regional Development Agency, the Marshall’s Office and Kraków Technology Park.

Consequently, a professional Investor Service Office was established. Furthermore, the Małopolska Investment and Innovation Tree, a symbol of the modern Małopolska economy currently located in front of the Business in Małopolska Centre, was also presented a year ago in Kraków. Edward C. Prescott, the Nobel Economics Prize winner, was a special guest at the conference.
The Annual Business in Małopolska Meeting is an opportunity to meet with other investors, and company representatives and to discuss experiences, problems and forthcoming challenges. “Małopolska Economy on the Threshold of a New Decade" will be the leitmotif of this year’s conference. The first decade of a new century has gone by:  which experiences, threats and, finally, hopes are behind us and… which are still to come?  Jacek Rostowski, the Minister of Finance will be our special guest, and he will present government plans concerning economic development. In order to discuss regional experiences in a broader context, we have also invited foreign business representatives working in Małopolska, who will attempt to answer the following question:  does Małopolska fully exploit its economic potential? Hitherto achievements of the Business in Małopolska Centre, on the other hand, will be described by representatives of partner institutions. We encourage all representatives of companies, as well as regional authorities and the media to participate in ABiMM.  The topics discussed during the meeting are always current and relevant to the real situation in the region.

Business in Małopolska attempts to treat regional promotion of foreign markets in a non-standard manner.  It is worth mentioning that the Małopolska Investment and Innovation Tree constitutes one such unconventional measure. This modern installation designed by Aleksander Janicki has already been presented twice in Krynica during the Economic Forum, as well as in Brussels at a conference devoted to cinema digitization during Małopolska Days.  It is attracting interest both as a work of art and as a non-standard manner of promoting the economy.
